How to install the last version of VLC 2 in Ubuntu or Linux Mint


You can install the VLC 2.x.x media player easily via the VLC daily stable PPA:
1) Open your terminal.
2) Type these commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/stable-daily
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install vlc
UPDATE by @geniv: expand the last command to:
sudo apt-get install vlc vlc-plugin-pulse mozilla-plugin-vlc

    ten poslední řádek bych rozšířil na:
    sudo apt-get install vlc vlc-plugin-pulse mozilla-plugin-vlc
